A graduate of Texas A&M University, Dr. Rebecca Nolan received her Ph.D. in August 1989. An M.S. degree in Psychometrics had previously been received from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA in 1979. Recently, June 2002, Dr. Nolan obtained a postdoctoral Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology from the California School of Professional Psychology.

As a professor in the Department of Psychology, Dr. Nolan has taught a variety of courses to freshmen through graduate students. Currently her courses include Psychometrics, Principles and Theories of Learning, Theories of Personality, and Assessment of Personality.

Dr. Nolan has a specialty area in School Psychology and serves on the School Psychology Training Committee. The Specialist Degree in School Psychology is the highest degree offered at LSUS. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Louisiana. Certification as a School Psychologist from the National Association of School Psychologists was obtained in 1989.

Currently, Dr. Nolan serves on several university committees. She is Chair of the Student Conduct Board, a member of the NCATE Standard #2 Committee, and a member of the Graduate Council among many others. As a faculty advisor to the Psychology Club, Dr. Nolan is very involved with students.

An active researcher, Dr. Nolan has collaborated with other faculty members and students to investigate areas that include self-esteem, depression, religious involvement, moral choice and perception of information. Community involvement includes offering training workshops to foster parents.

Dr. Nolan is an advocate for prescription privileges for psychologists who have received specialty training in this area.
