LSUS teachers among top in state; most stay in area to teach. 3/18/2003
In late February, results of a Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education survey showed the LSUS teacher education program ranked second of all in-state schools in teacher certification test scores. Teachers who earned their first degrees at LSUS have consistently scored far above the state average on standardized testing during the past 25 years. The latest survey results have our teachers ranked behind LSU-Baton Rouge by only three points.

Best of all, the survey showed 95 percent of LSUS-educated teachers stay right here in Shreveport-Bossier City and surrounding parishes. There is a direct correlation between the quality of teacher preparation and the quality of student performance. Over time, area test scores will get better because the best teachers are staying here.

To be ranked second in the state out of 20 institutions is no small achievement. Great teaching plus great students equal great results.
