Dr. Yong Dai is a Professor of Psychology. He originally came from China. He received his bachelor degree in English language and literature from Hunan Agricultural University in China in 1982. After teaching English for four years in a Chinese university, he went to Durham University in Great Britain and received his Master of Arts in applied linguistics in 1987. After that he went to Brigham Young University in Utah where he received his Master of Science in statistics and his Ph.D. in psychology. He has been a member of the Department of Psychology since 1994.

Dr. Dai is a well-trained quantitative psychologist. His main research interests involve analyzing large national datasets to study issues in social, developmental and cross-cultural psychology. He has been a member of American Psychological Association since 1995. He received LSUS Outstanding Faculty Award for Excellence in Research in 2002. His hobbies include Beijing opera, reading, and soccer.
