Louisiana
Association of Educators - Student Program
Faculty Advisor: Ms. Candi Bagley, BE 117B, 797-5031, Dr. Martha Mangin, BE 370, 797-5038.
The
purpose of the organization is to promote the development
of professional interest and attitudes among college
students preparing for the teaching profession. Membership
provides classroom insurance coverage, state and
national publications and a discount off post-graduation
NEA and LEA dues. Participation in LAESP functions
gives preservice teachers the opportunity to interact
with LSUS faculty and the Professional Development
School faculty, staff, and students.
Each
semester LAESP sponsors or participates in a number
of activities, such as:
- a
reception honoring student teachers and their
cooperating teachers;
- fund raising activities such as a Silent Auction and/or a Children's Book Fair;
- campus
events such as SOAR, Fall Fest and Spring Fling;
- service
projects benefiting the Professional Development
School.
Meetings
are held on Tuesdays or Thursdays during Common Hour (10:30-11:15)
once or twice a month. Meeting dates are posted on
fliers in all campus buildings.
