To assist students in academic life, the University offers many computers labs located throughout the University along with several forms of tutoring.

The Campus Wide Lab
The Campus Wide Lab, located in Technology Center, Rm 224, helps all students with computing needs through a variety of software programs and Internet connections. This lab is open weekdays and nights and limited hours on the weekend in a regular semester during hours posted on the door.

The Writing Center
The writing center has a staff of trained writing consultants who will help any student with any writing project for any class at any stage of the writing process. They can help the writer generate ideas, formulate a thesis, organize the paper, and revise it. They will not, however, proofread the paper for the writer, make corrections, or predict a grade. They are not a "fix-it" shop. Rather, their goal is to make better writers, not just better papers.

The writing center has handbooks and handouts for students who want general help with writing. Also, its consultants are happy to answer questions over the phone or by e-mail. They cannot, however, offer consultations by phone or e-mail.

Located in Bronson Hall 114, their regular semester hours are:
Monday - Thursday:
11:00 am - 4:00 pm
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Friday:
11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Saturday:
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Students are welcome to drop in during these hour. If they wish, they can call ahead to schedule an appointment, but this is not necessary. They can be reached at 797-5184 or uwc@lsus.edu

Math Assistance
Tutorial assistance for students currently enrolled in mathematics courses is available in the Math Help Lab, Bronson Hall 404. Students interested should ask their instructor about tutorial assistance.

This Tutoring Lab is open weekdays and nights and limited hours on the weekend in a regular semester during hours posted on the door.

Accounting Lab
The College of Business Administration Accounting Lab is located in Business Education (BE) Room 204. The lab contains a study area, a computer with accounting and Microsoft Office software, and materials to assist students in principles and intermediate accounting.

Accounting student workers man the lab, so hours may vary by semester because of the students' schedules. Lab hours are posted on the door. For more information on the lab, contact any of the accounting instructors or the department office located in BE Room 339B.

Ed Tech Lab
The College of Education maintains a state-of-the-art educational technology laboratory in Room 218 of the Business and Education Building. This Macintosh Laboratory is equipped with hardware and software for every purpose appropriate to preparing students for teaching in the K-12 schools. This includes technology to create print materials, compact discs, classroom multimedia presentations, and integrated technology products. Assistance is available by the laboratory director and student assistants.

Fine Arts Computer Lab
The Fine Arts Department maintains a small Macintosh computer lab in Bronson Hall 132, which is used by students in the field of graphic design. The lab houses Power Macintosh computers, zip drives, scanners, black and white printers and color printers. Typical software programs in this particular lab include QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

The Foreign Language Multimedia Center
The Foreign Language Multimedia Center houses two complete, complementary laboratory facilities including an audio lab with 24 stations for aural/oral listening and practice. The multimedia lab offers fifteen computers with CD-ROMs. Four stations are also equipped with laser disk readers.

Tutorial Assistance for Veterans
Tutorial assistance is available for VA students enrolled at least half-time and having a deficiency in a particular academic subject. The student is invited to seek assistance through the Office of Admissions and Records.

Computer Laboratories
Computer Laboratories are set up across campus for student’s use. Lab hours vary but are posted at each facility.
