The LSUS
Pioneer Heritage Center interprets the culture and social
history of Northwest Louisiana. The structures, exhibits and artifacts
serve as a history laboratory for students, teachers, community
group, tourists and the general public.
The LSUS Division
of Continuing Education offers a variety of summer programs
for youth including athletic programs and camps, jumpstart programs,
educational camps, art and writing clinics for grades K-12.
The LSUS Institute for Human Services and Public Policy offers several services to the community such as research and analysis, nonprofit conferences, and health care conferences.
LSUS partners
with area library systems as the site for the KTBS
Summer Reading Festival, a weeklong program that encourages
over 8,000 second graders to read during the summer.
The LSUS LaPREP
Program is a nationally recognized summer college preparatory
program that prepares middle school students for success in math
and science.
The LSUS Teen
Summer Institute provides students entering the ninth grade
with intervention training to prevent substance abuse and violent
and self-destructive behaviors.
LSUS is home
to the first U.S. Olympic Committee sponsored
USA Weightlifting Development Center.
