The University
provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students,
as well as faculty, to conduct research that often helps the community
while advancing knowledge in a particular field. The University
will continue to enhance research opportunities by promoting cooperative
ventures with other educational institutions in the region, especially
the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport
and the Biomedical Research Institute.
LSUS, in partnership
with the City of Shreveport, operates the Red River
Educational and Research Park at the 6000 acre C. Bickham
Dickson wetlands area adjacent to the campus.
The LSUS Ralph
Worley Observatory, the only facility of its kind in North
Louisiana, hosts astronomical events throughout the year.
The LSUS Museum
of Life Sciences houses more than 25,000 specimens, including
mammals, birds, and reptiles and plants.
