Thank you for your interest in the CLEP (College-Level Examination Program). Our test system is computerized and is administered by LSUS Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER). We are a National-Open CLEP Center and offer all CLEP tests. However, CLEP cannot award college credit; only accredited colleges may grant credit toward a degree. Check with the college you plan to attend before turning in your CLEP test application. |
|
You
have the option of seeing your CLEP score immediately after you complete the
exam. If you take an optional
essay, it will be sent with a copy of your score report to the institution you
designate when you take the test. If
you choose to see your score, it will be sent automatically to the institution
you have designated as score recipient; it cannot be cancelled.
You will get the candidate copy of your score report before you leave the
test center. If you have tested at
the institution you want to receive your scores, they will have immediate access
to your test results if you have selected them as a score recipient.
As explained in the brochure, the results of the tests may be sent to any
school you designate. If
you want to cancel your CLEP score, you can do so only by choosing not
to view the score after completing the exam.
If you cancel your score, it will not be reported to the institution you
have designated, and you will not get the candidate copy of your score report.
You will have to wait six months before you can take the exam again. Active
military personnel may take CLEP exams without charge though the Defense
Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) program.
At military installations, information about CLEP may be obtained from
the Education Officer. |
|
Each
test is 90 minutes long and consists mainly of multiple-choice questions.
Some exams may contain questions that require the candidate to fill in
(type in) the answer, usually a numeric answer.
Computer proficiency is not required to take a CLEP exam. We
strongly recommend that you attempt no more than three tests per session. |
|
The fee for each test is currently $85; this cost
includes a $15 non-refundable service fee for administering the test.
The $15 non-refundable service fee is required to secure an appointment
for each test; the balance of $70 per test is payable just prior to testing.
If paying by check, two checks must be written, one made out to Center
for Business and Economic Research to cover the service fee(s) ($15/test), and
the other made out to CLEP to cover the cost of each test ($70/test).
Credit card payments are recommended for exam fees. |
|
To pre-register call (318) 797-5187 To register for the regularly offered tests, you
should fill out the application form and return it with the $15 non-refundable
service fee per test to the Business Education Building, room 119A to make an
appointment. The Official Handbook for the CLEP Examinations that
is described in the brochure is also available at the LSU-S Bookstore.
These can be useful in that they (1) describe each exam, (2) delineate
the knowledge and skills required, (3) give topic percentage covered for each
test, (4) provide sample questions, and (5) suggest study resources. |
|
We are frequently asked which CLEP test is equivalent
to a particular course offered at a particular college or university.
We can readily supply this information for colleges at LSU in Shreveport,
but policies concerning CLEP credit vary widely from institution to institution.
CLEP test results by themselves do not constitute college credit.
Credit must be awarded by an accredited college which typically requires
some form of enrollment. The best
advice is to confer with the Registrar of the school you plan to attend about
their CLEP policies and which tests correspond to their unique curricular
offerings before you submit your CLEP test application. Currently the College of Business and the College of
Science at Louisiana State University – Shreveport are accepting the following
CLEP examinations and test scores as credit in their respective programs.
For clarification or more information, contact the appropriate college. |
In addition to the CLEP exams, the LSUS College of Business
Administration is also offering the following Departmental Proficiency Exam.
The fee for this exam will be approximately $10.
Contact Janice Goode at 797-5104 for additional information or to
schedule a test.
