Through the interdisciplinary study of environmental science,
graduates learn the connections in nature, how the environment is used
and abused, and what individuals can do to protect and improve it for themselves,
for future generations, and for other living things. A major objective
for a B.S. program in environmental science is to educate individuals to
become key personnel for leadership positions in environmental vocations
in industry and government. Shortages of environmental scientists are creating
a demand for professionals prepared for vocations in field and laboratory
work, research and development, management and regulatory jobs.
