Courses - Anthropology: ANTH 205: General Anthropology* 3 cr. The origin and evolution of man, the modern races, prehistory of mankind, and linguistic classification. Three hours of lecture. ANTH 210: Culture Growth* 3 cr. The nature of culture; social organization; primitive religion, magic, and arts. Three hours of lecture. ANTH 304: North American Indians 3 cr. Origin, distribution, language, and culture of the aboriginal population. Three hours of lecture. ANTH 395: Independent Studies 3 cr. Prerequisite: Consent of the department. Survey of traditional tales and oral literature, and of other elements of folk culture such as ethnobotany, folk music, and folk housing, with emphasis on Louisiana.
