HCAD
701: Organizational Behavior in Health Care 3 cr.
Prerequisite: Consent of the Department. The study of organizational
research and theory from a wide range of disciplines as it relates
to the delivery of health care. Topics will include but are not
limited to leadership, change, morale, communication, social environment,
and issues of organizational structure. Three hours of lecture.
HCAD 710: Human Resource Management
in Health Care 3 cr.
Prerequisite: Consent of the Department. This course is designed
to acquaint the students with healthcare administration with concepts
in human resources management and labor relations. Emphasis is
on the role of the governing board, personnel director and labor
attorney. Three hours of lecture.
HCAD 750: Operational Research Modeling 3 cr.
Prerequisite: Consent of the Department. The study of health care
administration issues through the use of computerized simulation
programs. Emphasis on analytical problem-solving and the development
of explicit relationships to the health care administration literature.
Includes independent and group work on problem-related reports.
Two hours of lecture and one hour computer lab.
HCAD 760: Health Care Finance 3 cr.
Prerequisite: Consent of the Department and completion of ACCT
205 and ACCT 206. A survey of financial management of health care
organizations that covers topics such as market structure and reimbursement,
fund accounting, financial ration analysis, capital and money markets,
working capital management, capital budgeting and analysis of mergers
and acquisitions. Three hours of lecture.
HCAD 770: Health Care Economics 3 cr.
Prerequisite: Consent of the Department and completion of ECON
285. The study of Health care Economics, with emphasis on health
care consumption, production of health care products and services,
and resource allocation for health career from a private and social
view. Three hours of lecture.
HCAD 780: Health Care Policy 3 cr.
Prerequisite: Consent of the Department. An examination of special
topics in public health policy, including national health insurance,
socialization of the health care delivery systems, and welfare.
Three hours of lecture.
