The Association of State Floodplain Managers will hold the 4th
National Floodproofing Conference and Exposition at the Astor Crowne
Plaza Hotel in New Orleans Nov. 16-20. SFPA’s Cathy Kaake will represent
the raised floor perspective on a panel about nonstructural policy and
societal issues related to floodproofing, and the Southern Pine
Council’s raised floor exhibit will be on display during the conference.
SPC and its Raised Floor Living campaign will also sponsor a “Community
Floodproofing Expo” on the opening day of the conference. The event will
feature tours of homes that have been restored or are being restored to
reduce future flood damage as well as free workshops, including one on
building on strong and safe elevated foundations.

ICC Upcoming Events
The ICC will hold its 2009 Codes Forum on
March 23-25, 2009 in New Orleans at the Sheraton Hotel on Canal Street.
The Codes Forum is a yearly national training event and will provide
seminar choices in all disciplines. Details and registration will be
available soon; I'll send them to you as soon as they are available.
The ICC Chapter; Code Officials of Lower
Alabama or COLA, will have its annual conference on November 11-14, 2008
in Mobile, some of the seminars utilize ICC curriculum and are taught by
ICC instructors;
