Q. What is AACSB?
A.

AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - is the professional association for college and university management education and the premier accrediting agency for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting.

To achieve accreditation, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards relating to curriculum, faculty resources, admissions, degree requirements, library and computer facilities, financial resources and intellectual climate that are all mission-linked.  For more information on AACSB International, visit www.aacsb.edu.

The LSUS College of Business Administration has been accredited by AACSB International since 1992, putting it on par with the top business schools in the nation.

Q. What is the value of earning an MBA from a program that is Accredited by AACSB?
A. The benefits of an MBA from a program accredited by AACSB International are many. First, you will be participating in a program that has been carefully examined for the quality of its curriculum, faculty, students, computer facilities, library resources, and overall standards of excellence. Second, many employers recognize that an MBA from an AACSB International -accredited program indicates a higher quality employee. Third, if you plan to eventually earn a doctoral degree in business, an MBA from a school accredited by AACSB International may allow you to transfer some of your MBA credits toward the doctoral degree.

Q. What will I gain from earning an MBA degree at LSUS?
A. First, you will gain advanced knowledge and skills in the quantitative and non-quantitative aspects of business. Additionally, you will develop a theoretical context for solving many business problems. Second, you can add in-depth knowledge to your broad business background. Third, if you are seeking to change careers, an MBA degree will add a different repertoire of skills to your existing ones. Fourth, an MBA degree from LSUS is often the "ticket" to career advancement, for it shows an employer that you have not only an advanced degree but also the personal qualities needed to complete a challenging MBA program.

Q. For whom is the MBA program designed?
A. The MBA program at LSUS is designed for both part-time and full-time students. Most of our MBA students work during the day; therefore, courses are scheduled for evenings, Monday through Thursday. Currently, 83 percent of our MBA students are enrolled as part-time students (taking nine or fewer hours each semester).

Students in the MBA program at LSUS represent a wide diversity of backgrounds. Approximately 50 percent of our MBA students are female, and more than 17 percent are African-American. The average age is 31, ranging from 22 to more than 50 years of age. MBA students have undergraduate degrees and work experience in a variety of fields, including business, engineering, health care, communications, computer science, education, and science.

You will also find that the MBA program is flexible and individualized. You may begin your studies at the start of any semester. The MBA Manager will help develop an individualized curriculum plan for you, based on your work schedule, timetable for degree completion, and career goals.

Q. How long will it take me to complete my MBA degree at LSUS?
A. The length of time for completion of the MBA depends on several factors, including your work schedule and the time you have available to study and complete course assignments. After completing the foundation requirements, many students complete the program in four semesters. Some students take only one or two courses each semester, and their program is completed in three or four years.

Q. I completed some MBA courses at another university. May I transfer those credits to your program and earn my MBA from LSUS?
A. Yes, you may transfer six semester hours of graduate credit with grades of B or higher from another regionally accredited institution, with the approval of the MBA Manager. The student must submit a catalog description and syllabus for a course before it can be approved for transfer credit.

Q. What are the requirements to be admitted to the MBA program at LSUS?
A. Each applicant should have earned an undergraduate degree from an Accredited college or university. Admission to the MBA program at LSUS will be granted to students showing high promise of success in postgraduate business study. All students will initially be judged on a combination of undergraduate performance and score on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) as indicators of high promise. Applicants must submit a GMAT score of 450 or higher. A minimum composite score of 1000 (based on overall undergraduate grade-point average times 200 plus the GMAT Score) is required.
