| Dr. Douglas S. Bible is Associate Dean of the College of Business, Education, and Human Services, and Acting0Chairman of the Department of Finance and Economics. He is the Oscar Cloyd Professor of Real Estate, and a Hoyt Fellow. Dr. Bible earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where his major field of study was Real Estate and Urban Analysis. Dr. Bible had previously earned an M.B.A. from Indiana University, and a B.S. in Administrative Science from Bowling Green University. Dr. Bible has served as a consultant and spokesperson for Shreveport/Bossier Board of Realtors.
Dr. Bible’s research interests include Real Estate Valuation, Real Estate Investments, and GIS applications. He has received over $ 200,000 in funding for various projects while at LSUS, including a recent grant, "Business Applications for Geographic Information Systems," co-authored with Gary Joiner, and funded by the Louisiana Board of Regents for $50,000.
Professor Bible has presented numerous papers at meetings including the results of a recent local study, entitled "Environmental Effects on Residential Property Values Resulting from Contamination from a Creosote Plant Site,” given at the International Real Estate Conference, Anchorage, during July of 2001. This paper, co-authored with Chengho Hsieh, Gary Joiner and David Volentine will be published in the Property Management Journal in 2003. He has over forty publications in national and international journals, including a paper, “Gated Communities and Residential Property Values,” that profiled gated communities in Shreveport-Bossier City and was published in The Appraisal Journal.
Dr. Bible teaches a number of courses, including Principles of Real Estate, Real Estate Investment and Taxation, Real Estate Appraisal, Managerial Finance and Public Finance. He also advises Finance, Real Estate, and Financial Services majors. |
