Dr. Vines received his Doctorate in Finance from The University of Tennessee in 1992. He has also earned his MBA and BBA from Northeast Louisiana University. Prior to joining the faculty at LSUS, Dr. Vines taught Finance at Arkansas State University and at Tennessee. He also has taught economics at University of Louisiana Monroe.

Dr. Vines has served the University in a variety of capacities. Committees have included Financial Aid and Scholarships, Library, Curriculum and Standards, Student Activities, MBA Review and a variety of accreditation-related committees.

Dr. Vines has published articles in The Journal of Real Estate Research and The Financial Review. His current research interests include Business/Finance/Accounting topics: The Use of Debt by Small/Entrepreneurial Firms; The Impact of Equitable Compensation on Employee and Organization Performance; Teaching Financial Theory; and The Impact of City Characteristics on the Value of Professional Sports Franchises.

His recent presentations include: “Inflationary Expectations and Real Rates - Clues from Treasury TIPPS Spreads,” with Mel Harju, Southern Economics Association, November 2000; and “Integrating Theory in the Classroom: Black/Scholes, CAPM, and Modigliani/Miller”, Academy of Economics and Finance, 1997.

Dr. Vines’ recent publications include: "Income Taxation of Inflation-Indexed Debt Instruments," The Tax Advisor Forthcoming 2002 with Rick Parker and “Macroeconomic Variables, Firm-Specific Variables, and Returns to Equity Real Estate Investment Trusts,” with Chen, Hsieh, and Chiou., Journal of Real Estate Research, Volume 16, Number 3, 1998.

While Dr. Vines has taught classes at the Math 131 and Accounting 205 and Accounting 206, his primary teaching interests lie in the area of Economics and Finance.
