Mrs. Janey Slusher is an honor graduate of Louisiana State University in Shreveport having earned a B.A. in English in 1983. Mrs. Slusher also has her M.A. in counseling from Louisiana Tech. As Academic Counselor for the College of Business, Mrs. Slusher has advised currently enrolled undergraduate business students and transfer students since 1983.

As the University's only professionally qualified academic advisor, Mrs. Slusher is also a member of the American Counseling Association, the National Academic Advising Association and the Louisiana Academic Advising Association. She attended the workshop for NACADA members in Summer 1995 in Colorado and has participated in a number of planning activities to increase academic advising effectiveness in small university settings as well as Colleges of Business. Mrs. Slusher maintains communication with members of these organizations to better serve the student population who transfers from one institution to another.

Mrs. Slusher has also served on a number of university committees that were set up to study student retention and educational assessment.

Mrs. Slusher encourages students enrolled at Southern University, BPCC, or other two year institutions to contact her directly for course advice and transfer credit information if they plan on attending LSUS in the future.
