Welcome
to the Department of Accounting and Business Law at Louisiana
State University in Shreveport. We offer a quality program leading to a bachelor's degree in accounting.
All full-time faculty members who teach accounting courses are Certified Public Accountants (some in inactive status), and all hold a terminal degree in their field. Our faculty members have experience in
various fields of business, providing an excellent mix
between academics and the "real world". Faculty members
are actively involved in professional organizations, such
as the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants,
and conduct applied research projects that are published
in professional journals.
Students
majoring in accounting are well prepared for a variety
of careers in public accounting, private industry, and
government. In addition, the accounting curriculum is
an excellent foundation
for advanced study in fields such as business administration,
management, law, public administration, and taxation. The Association of
Student Accountants provides an excellent opportunity
for accounting majors to become actively involved in extra-curricular
activities, including meeting and discussing career goals
with practicing accountants. Internships in accounting
are often available at local public accounting firms and other businesses. For more information on internships, please contact Ms. Bridget Verret at bridget.verret@lsus.edu.
