Women's Tennis set for season opener
February 01, 2013
SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport women's tennis team will begin their 2013 schedule one week from today at Centenary College in Shreveport at 2 p.m. Last season the Lady Pilots and Centenary Ladies split the two meetings with LSUS taking the first match 5-4 and Centenary owning the Lady Pilots in the final meeting of the year 9-0.
The Lady Pilots will embark on a schedule that currently has six matches for 2013 with half of the matches taking place at Centenary College, two matches on the road, and one match at Southern Hills Tennis Center in Shreveport.
LSUS returns only three faces from last year's squad that finished with an overall record of 2-8. Kelly Boss (Sr.), Heather McCutchen (So.) and Heather Nosky (Sr.) return for their second season after losing Lauren Stevenson and Haley Yelverton off of last year's team.
All five of the current roster player for 2013 also played for the LSUS women's soccer team this past season as the Lady Pilots added two freshmen to the tennis squad with Jaynie Stewart and Nea Sunila, two of the top performers on the pitch in 2012 for the women's soccer team.
