Head Coach

Mike Aguilar

 

Mike Aguilar enters his second season as the Head Coach of the LSU Shreveport soccer program. Aguilar is the former head coach of the C.E. Byrd Yellow Jackets men's soccer team.

He spent six seasons at Byrd and took his team to the post season each year. During the 2010-2011 season he led the Jackets to a share of the 1-5A District Championship and was selected as the District Coach of the Year for the second time in his career at Byrd.

Prior to his stint at Byrd, Aguilar was a member of the coaching staff for the women's team at Bossier Parish Community College for the four seasons that the program existed. He was an assistant for the first two seasons and took over as head coach for the final two years.

Aguilar has also experienced success with his club team the Shreveport United as he was named Coach of the Year in 2009 for winning the state championship with his 12U girls' team. He has coached with Shreveport United since 2002.

Aguilar grew up Grand Prairie, Texas, and played for the Dallas Comets club team and later for Alvin Community College. He moved to Shreveport/Bossier in 2000 to manage the Indoor Soccer Center and begin his collegiate studies. He received two Associate Degrees from Bossier Parish Community College; General Studies (2003) and Business Administration (2004). He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 2006 at LSU Shreveport.

Aguilar and his wife April have been married for five years and are the proud parents of Michael Jr and Daniel. The Aguilar's reside in Haughton.
