Women's Soccer Held Scoreless Versus Belhaven

November 02, 2008

Shreveport, La. - The LSUS Lady Pilots dropped a 2-0 decision and their fourth game overall, as the visiting Belhaven Lady Blazers picked up their second conference victory on Saturday afternoon at The Swamp.

Belhaven sprinted out of the gates early and controlled the ball for the majority of the first half.  The Lady Blazers attempted 18 shots in the first 45 minutes of action and took a 1-0 lead into the break after a goal by Nicole Trawick at the 39:24 mark.

LSUS goalie Shay Wells kept the Lady Pilots withing striking distance with seven saves in the first half, however, the LSUS offense only managed two shots-on-goal in the contest.

Belhaven put the game out of reach with just five minutes remaining, as Krista Brizeno scored the Lady Blazers' second goal off a pass from Julie Hampton.

LSUS was out shot by the vistors 22-5 on the afternoon, while being held scoreless for the fourth game in-a-row.

The Lady Pilots (7-7, 2-5) will host Spring Hill College next Sunday in a must-win game on Senior Day.  LSUS, which currently sits in last place in the GCAC standings, will need to win in order to have a chance to host the play-in game for the conference tournament.
