Christy Willis begins her first season on Coach Howell's staff as the Graduate Assistant Coach for the 2013-14 season. Willis received a Bachelor General Studies with a concentration in Psychology from LSU Shreveport in May 2013. While serving with the Lady Pilots' coaching staff, she will continue to work for her master's degree in Health and Wellness with the goal of completing requirements by December 2014.
Willis played a major role in the Lady Pilots' success over the past two seasons with her accurate shot from behind the three-point line helping her to a career average of 11.7 points per game. During her LSUS career, she played in a total of 65 games and drained a total of 147 shots from downtown in her two-years while dishing out 212 assists for fourth place on LSUS' all-time assists list. Willis was a two-time Red River Athletic Conference All-Conference selection.
Last season Willis' made a total of 80 three-point shots while shooting 82-percent from the free-throw line, finishing the year with a 13.6 ppg average.
Christy began her playing career at Lon Morris College, playing there for two seasons and being selected to the All-Conference team with a first-team selection for efforts on the court in her second season. Following her time at Lon Morris, Willis red-shirted for one season (2010-11) at NCAA Division I Hampton University, watching her team win the conference regular season and tournament title only to fall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Kentucky by four points, 66-62. She transferred to LSU Shreveport the following season.
Following completion of her master's degree, Willis aspires to become a full-time assistant coach and eventually a head coach at the collegiate level.
