Marcia Spyhalski begins her sixth season at LSU Shreveport as Assistant Coach of the LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots basketball team. Spyhalski's on-floor coaching skills along with recruiting, opponent scouting, film exchange, monitoring student-athlete academic progress and game management have been pivotal contributions leading the squad to an overall record of 130-56 since since she was hired in September 2008. She has also developed a strength and conditioning program which has aided the Lady Pilots in achieving four seasons of 20 or more wins in the last five years as well as four appearances in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament during that span.
Spyhalski is no stranger to the LSUS women's basketball program having been a three-year starter from 2003-2006. She was named the Lady Pilots team captain during her junior and senior seasons while leading the team to a then school-record 13 wins in 2005-06. Spyhalski graduated from LSUS in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in General Studies.
Prior to her time with the Lady Pilots, "Coach Spy" played one season at Panola College before transferring to LSUS. Spyhalski is an alumna of Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas. While in high school, she lettered three times in three different sports. She led her basketball team to three consecutive playoff appearances. She also helped to lead the volleyball team to four straight playoff appearances including a near undefeated season her senior year as they finished as state runner up with a 40-1 record. She also lettered in track and field.
Spyhalski is the proud mother of Makayla Rose Nichols (1) and the two currently reside in Shreveport.
