Ronnie Howell
Ronnie Howell was named women's head basketball coach at Louisiana State University in Shreveport in February, 2003 after spending 15 years as a high school basketball coach in the Shreveport/Bossier area.
Howell and his Lady Pilots have posted an 152-116 overall record since 2003, which includes an LSUS best 27-5 overall record in the 2008-2009 season. Howell was also named the 2009 GCAC Coach of the Year after posting a school record 27 wins.
Howell was born December 28, 1962, in Shreveport, LA. He was a 1981 graduate of Airline High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from Baptist Christian College, and completed certification in special education at LSUS in 1993.
As the boy's coach at Bossier High School from 2000-2003, Howell compiled a 77-50 overall record with one district championship and four straight 4A state playoff appearances. As girl's coach at Byrd High School from 1994-1999, he had a five year record of 122-57, with five straight 5A playoff appearances. His teams were 5A state runners-up in 1997 and 1998. Howell also coached Donnie Bickham Middle School girls' basketball team to a 28-1 record and a city championship in 1989-1990. He started his coaching career at Sibley High School where he was head girls' basketball coach and assistant boy's coach in 1988-89.
Howell resides in Bossier City and has three children, Ryan, Rachel and Cameron.
