Women's Basketball: Lady Pilots dominate Dallas Christian

November 10, 2012

WAXAHACHIE, Tex. - The no. 19 LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots had a perfect weekend in the SAGU Classic wrapping it up with a 78-44 trouncing of the Dallas Christian Lady Crusaders on Saturday afternoon.

LSUS (2-0) sank a total of 10 buckets from beyond the arc to spark an offense that shot 47 percent from the field to finish Saturday's impressive victory with four double figure scorers. Christy Willis' five makes in 10 attempts from downtown led all scorers with 19 points while teammates Jenna Diakos and Sharde Henry each tossed in a dozen points. Katie McCoy came off the bench to drain three from beyond the arc and round out the double digit scorers with 11 points.

What led to the Lady Pilots dominating on the scoreboard was the way they cleaned the glass snagging a total of 43 rebounds, 25 defensive, as opposed to the Lady Crusaders only claiming 18 total rebounds. Dallas Christian's offense struggled against the stellar defense of the Lady Pilots making only 38 percent of their shots from the field and made just five of 17 three-pointers or the score would have been a lot worse.

The Lady Pilots dominated every statistical category including 15 assists with Meoshi Bradley leading the way with six while three others had two or more. Henry and Victoria Smith tied for the team lead with nine rebounds apiece while Henry led the squad with three of the team's eight steals in the game.

The next contest for the Lady Pilots will be an Exhibition Game at UL-Lafayette on November 11th at 7 p.m. LSUS returns to their regular season schedule for their home opener on Friday, November 16th, at The Dock against UT-Tyler at 6 p.m.
