Women's Basketball: Henry claims another RRAC Player of the Week Award

WACO, Texas -- For the fifth time this season Sharde Henry of LSU Shreveport earned the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the dates of Feb. 4-10 sharing the award this week with Aliesha Carruthers of Wiley College (Texas).
Henry, a senior forward from Lake Charles, La., delivered two strong performances for the Lady Pilots, including narrowly missing a triple-double. In a 94-67 victory over Texas College, Henry notched 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in addition to three steals. She also accounted for 25 points, nine boards and five assists to knock off Huston-Tillotson University (Texas), 73-62. For the week, Henry made 21-of-35 shots from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line.
Additional nominees included Amber Arceneaux-Francis of the University of St. Thomas (Texas) and Takoia Larry of Texas Wesleyan University.
Carruthers, a senior forward from Houston, averaged 23.0 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Lady Wildcats. She posted 16 points and four reounds in a 69-47 win over Jarvis Christian College (Texas), then poured in 30 points and grabbed six boards in an 84-82 come-from-behind victoriy over 19th-ranked Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas). Carruthers was 10-of-13 from the field against OLLU and 16-of-24 for the week. Ranked 22nd in the nation, Wiley held on to second place in the RRAC standings at 14-2 with an overall mark of 20-3.
