Women's Basketball: Diakos named RRAC Player of the Week

WACO, Tex. - Jenna Diakos of LSU Shreveport earned recognition as Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance over the dates of Jan. 14-20. This is the 12th weekly award of the season.
Diakos, a junior forward from Ragley, La., paced the Lady Pilots with 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week. She lifted LSUS to a 10-point victory over Texas Wesleyan University with 17 points and nine boards then added 21 points and seven rebounds to defeat Langston University (Okla.), 79-62. Diakos made 17-of-34 shots from the field as the Lady Pilots improved to 9-2 in conference play and 14-3 overall.
Diakos joins Sharde Henry as the only Lady Pilots to claim the weekly award; its Diakos' first selection while Henry has grabbed the award three times this season.
Amber Arceneaux-Francis of the University of St. Thomas (Texas), Aliesha Carruthers of Wiley College (Texas), Toeisha Cooper of Texas Wesleyan University, Dinilesizwe Love of Jarvis Christian College (Texas), and Treshenia Solomon of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) were additional nominees.
