Wolfpack top Lady Pilots 68-64

Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Lady Pilots played host to the Loyola University Wolfpack Thursday night at the Dock. The Lady Pilots jumped out to a 35-28 halftime lead, but could not hold on as the Wolfpack went on to defeat the Lady Pilots 68-64.
The Wolfpack jumped out early building a 10-3 lead to start the half, but the Lady Pilots fought back and built a 35-28 halftime lead. Kendera Monet led the Lady Pilots with 11 points and 8 rebounds. LSUS was 13-26 shooting from the field which included 2-9 from beyond the three point line. The Lady Pilots connected on 7-9 free throws.
Loyola’s Joelle Bordellon led the Wolfpack with 8 points and 4 assists. The Wolfpack were 9-30 from the field and just 4-16 from beyond the three point line. Loyola was 6-7 from the free throw line.
The Wolfpack started the second half on a 14-2 run and led 42-37 with 15:00 remaining. The Lady Pilots trailed until the 7:00 mark when they tied the score 52-52. The two teams traded baskets to the final minutes of the game. The Lady Pilots found themselves down 3 with 0:05 remaining with the ball. Dyamond Hogg had an open look at a three which bounced off the back of the rim and was rebounded by Loyola’s Marjorie Bilinski. The Lady Pilots were forced to foul and which sent Bilinski to the free throw line for two shots with 0:03 remaining. Bilinski made the first and missed the second, but put the Wolfpack finished with a 68-64 win.
Bilinski finished with a game high 22 points on 9-15 shooting for the Wolfpack. Dani Holland followed with 16 points and 7 rebounds while Bordellon finished with 11 points and a game high 6 assists and 6 steals. The Wolfpack finished shooting 44% from the field and 9-23 from beyond the three point line.
Lady Pilots leading scorer Renalda Stafford finished with 17 points while Kendera Monette finished with 15 points and a game high 13 rebounds. Dyamond Hogg pitched in with a 14 point performance. LSUS finished shooting 47% from the field despite connecting on only 4-17 three point attempts. LSUS connected on 14-16 free throw attempts.
The Lady Pilots are now 7-12 on the year and 1-5 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. The Lady pilots will return home again Saturday night when they play host to Spring Hill College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00pm.
