Wildcats beat Lady Pilots 64-47
December 07, 2006
Marshall, TX---The LSUS Lady Pilots struggled out of the gate Wednesday night against the Wiley College Wildcats, scoring just two points in the first eight minutes. A 36-20 halftime deficit proved to be too much for the Lady Pilots who dropped to 3-3 on the season as the Wildcats marched to a 64-47 victory.
The Lady Pilots inability to score early in the first half proved to be the difference in Wednesday’s contest. LSUS connected on just 6-of-22 (27%) field goal attempts in the first half and had 14-turnovers.
LSUS cut the lead to as low as 11-points late in the second half, but did not have the answer defensively against the Wildcats who shot a combined 45% (24-of-53) from the field.
Mary Wali and Tashina Hughes each finished with 15-points and combined for nine rebounds. Ciara Sanders added nine points and a game high eight rebounds for the Wildcats.
Kacie Cryer led the Lady Pilots with 14-points while teammate Quan Joseph added nine points and four rebounds.
LSUS will be in action again Saturday afternoon when they will travel to Natchitoches, LA to take on the Northwestern State University Lady Demons. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
