Vaughan, Smith Earn LSWA Honors

Shreveport, La.- The LSUS women’s soccer team placed one player and had the Co-Freshman of the Year on the 2007 Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-Louisiana Women’s Soccer Team, which was released Sunday by the LSWA.
LSU-Shreveport junior forward Julia Vaughan was named to the All-Louisiana first team for the second straight season. A Shreveport product, Vaughan posted 10 goals and six assists in 2007, leading the Lady Pilots to the Region XIII semifinals. Vaughan has a school-record 31 goals in her three seasons at LSU-Shreveport.
The LSWA’s Co-Freshman of the Year was LSU-Shreveport’s Caitlin Smith, a native of San Antonio, Texas. An NAIA All-Region XIII selection, Smith scored seven goals and dished out six assists for the Lady Pilots. Smith shared the honors with McNeese State midfielder Alana Clark.
The 2007 LSWA All-Louisiana Women's Soccer Team was nominated and selected by the state's sports information directors.
