UT Tyler dominates Lady Pilots

SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Texas Tyler Patriots left The Swamp with a 3-0 victory on Monday afternoon over the LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots.

LSUS (2-2) managed only five shots in the contest with only one finding the frame from Mary Warfield that was saved by UTT goalie Macy Hurley who played all 90 minutes.

The Patriots (2-0) controlled most of the game but when LSUS looked to have life, they added three goals in the second half of play in route to victory. Kayla Akin scored the first goal and the last on Monday while teammate Charity Shipman scored the second goal of the game for the Patriots during the 56th minute.

The visitors broke the scoreless tie just three minutes into the second half and did not stop there adding the second goal eight minutes later and the last with nine minutes to play. Overall UT Tyler outshot the Lady Pilots 23-5 with 10 on goal. Shay Wells saved a total of seven for the Lady Pilots in 90 minutes of action.

UT Tyler took a total of 11 shots in the first half compared the only two taken by the Lady Pilots. The Patriots were also well ahead taking six corner kicks to LSUS' none in the first half.

The game for the Lady Pilots will be on Monday, September 10, at 7 p.m. at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
