Three Pilots Receive All-Conference Recognition

SHREVEPORT, La. - LSUS men's basketball players Chris Gatlin and Mike Pilgrim were named to the All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Team, while freshman Derrick Parker picked up Freshman of the Year honors as announced today (Mar. 3) by the league's office.
Chris Gatlin, a senior from Baton Rouge, finished the regular season as the leading scorer for the Pilots with 17 points/game, while also grabbing over 5 rebounds per contest. He shot a team-high 43% from behind the three-point line, connecting on 84 three pointers for the season.
Mike Pilgrim, a junior center from Cincinatti, was a dominating force in the paint for the Pilots after joining the team a mid-semester. He averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds during conference play and led the conference in field-goal percentage, making nearly 70% of his shot attempts.
Freshman Derrick Parker from Minden earned Co-Freshman of the Year honors after delivering one of the best freshman campaigns in school history. Parker averaged 10 points and a team-high 8 rebounds, while also shooting 64% from the field in his first season as a Pilot.
LSUS (19-11) will host a first-round GCAC Tournment game on Thursday night at The Dock. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. versus the winner of the Dillard/SUNO play-in game.
