Three Pilots named All-RRAC

November 08, 2012

WACO, Tex. - The Red River Athletic Conference announced the 2012 Red River Athletic Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and postseason award-winners as voted by the conference's head coaches on Wednesday. Alan Arroyo, Che Walcott, and Rodrigo Pontes were the three Pilots chosen to this year's All-conference selections.

Arroyo, a junior-mid-fielder from Van, Texas, made an immediate impact for the Pilots as well as his play in the RRAC as he was selected as the RRAC's choice for Newcomer of the Year. In addition to the conference's top newcomer award he was also chosen to the First Team; Arroyo played in all 11 games for the Pilots scoring four goals and assisting on four more.

Walcott, a junior-defender from New Grant Princes Town, Trinidad and Tobago, was a dominating force to be reckoned with on the back line of the Pilots' defense. He played in 10 of the 11 games for the Pilots in RRAC play.

Pontes, a senior-forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, gave a tremendous boost to the Pilots up top providing solid scoring opportunities. He played in all 11 RRAC games for the Pilots scoring three goals and assisting on three others.

The Pilots will take these three all-conference members along with the rest of the team to the RRAC Semi-Finals for just the second time in school history on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Texas Wesleyan University.

"All three of these players have made a great impact on the success that we are having this year. Alan provided some need speed for us on the outside and we expect great things from him and Che next season. Che is an exceptional defender; he provides confidence in the back for our defense. And you can't say enough about Rodrigo who gave us a much needed boost up top," said LSUS Head Coach Mike Aguilar.
