Three Pilots Earn All-GCAC Honors

Mobile, Ala. - The LSUS Pilots baseball team placed three players on the All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference First Team as selected by the league's coaches Tuesday evening.

Pitcher Victor Hernandez, designated hitter Jeff Ledet and catcher Andrew Brouillette represent the Pilots on the 2008 All-Conference squad.

Pilot ace Victor Hernandez (9-1) led the pitching staff in wins this season, while appearing in 15 games and posting a 3.98 ERA.  Hernandez totaled a team-high 86 innings pitched on the year, striking out a team-best 65 batters against just 22 walks.

Designater hitter Jeff Ledet had a career year at the plate during his fifth and final season with the Pilots, posting a team and career-high .434 batting average.  Ledet finished the regular season with five home runs, 16 doubles, 40 RBIs and a team-high .705 slugging percentage.

Andrew Brouillette, a redshirt freshman transfer from Northwestern St., made a big splash in his debut season with the Pilots.  Brouillette led the Pilots in hits (70), doubles (17), total bases (109), walks (40) and on-base percentage (.545), while finishing second on the team with a .422 batting average.

The All-Conference selection was the first in the career of all three Pilots.
