Statesman defeat Pilots 11-1

LSUS (34-21) traveled to Cleveland, MS Tuesday to take on the Delta State Statesman (39-9). The Statesman jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and tacked on 4 more in the second which was enough to defeat the Pilots. The Statesman won by a final score of 11-1.
Sam Alphonse (7-4) suffered the loss for the Pilots while Lightsey (8-1) picked up the win to give the Statesman their 39th victory of the year.
Chris Frye and Chase Cox combined for 4 of the Pilots 6 hits on the night. Frye doubled in the 6th inning and scored on a 2 out single by Cox to account for the lone Pilot run.
LSUS will be in action again this weekend when they travel to Jackson, MS to take on Belhaven College in the last GCAC series of the year.
