Spyhalski earns GCAC Player of the Week honors

February 15, 2006

Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Lady Pilots are in the midst of a two game winning streak and are fighting to improve their position in the standings among the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference as postseason play quickly approaches. At 12-9 overall, 3-6 in the GCAC, the Lady Pilots are just two wins shy of breaking the single season wins record of 13 which was set last season. Much of this seasons success is due in large part to third year senior Marcia Spyhalski, who was awarded this weeks GCAC Player of the Week honors.

Spyhalski, a 5’10 senior from Longview, TX led the Lady Pilots to a 2-0 record last week by averaging 17.5 points 6.5 rebounds while shooting 52% from the field in victories over Belhaven College and Arkansas Baptist College. She scored a career high 20 points Monday night in a 71-68 win over BC, and followed that with a 17 point, seven rebound performance in an 89-45 win over ABC.

This season Spyhalski has raised her scoring average to a career high 8.3 points per game and is also the Lady Pilots leading rebounder averaging 6.9 per game.
