Porter, McDowell Headline All-Louisiana Team

Shreveport, La. - LSUS senior Josh Porter was named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-Louisiana First Team and LSUS head coach Chad McDowell was selected as the Coach of the Year by the state's media.
Porter, a guard from Shreveport, led the Pilots in scoring during the 2007-08 campaign after averaging 21.9 points per contest. Porter became the 5th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point mark for his career, while finishing the season with the second highest scoring average in school history.
The Southwood HS product finished the season as the GCAC Player of the Year and the Basketball Times NAIA Co-Player of the Year. Porter was also selected to the NAIA Coaches' All-America First Team and the NABC/State Farm All-America First Team.
Bo McCalebb was named state player of the year after leading New Orleans and the league in scoring. Joining McCalebb and Porter on the first team are LSU’s Anthony Randolph and Marcus Thornton and Tulane’s David Gomez.
LSUS’s head coach Chad McDowell was awarded Coach of the Year after leading the Pilots to a 31-3 record during the 2007-08 season, including the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships. McDowell has compiled a 132-35 record in five seasons at LSUS, the best winning percentage of any coach in the state of Louisiana during that span.
Jamon Morris was also named to the All-Louisiana Third Team, as he posted 14.5 points and 11 rebounds per game this season. Morris led the NAIA in double-doubles with 25.
