Pilots win thriller over Texas Wesleyan

SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots picked up their third conference win of the season with a 3-1 thrilling win over the Rams of Texas Wesleyan at The Swamp on Saturday afternoon.LSUS (4-7, 3-3 RRAC) took an early 1-0 during the 23rd minute as Nelson Zelaya headed in his second goal of the season following a crisp pass from Luis Valladares, his third assist of the year. The Pilots led 1-0 at the half.
Texas Wesleyan (6-4-2, 3-1-1 RRAC) tied the game during the 61st minute with a goal from Ivan Kovacevic.
The Pilots kept pounding their way to the net when Joey Morvant scored his second goal of the season after Ruben Mendoza threaded the needle with a pass to Morvant; it was Mendoza's first assist of the year.
The Rams, needing a goal, called on their keeper, Dejan Milosevic, to help on a corner kick leaving the net wide open on the other end. The Pilots countered following the kick as Jesus Garcia got a shot off that was saved by Milosevic. The rebound bounced to Joseph Eades who kicked it over the keeper's head for the goal to put the game away. Eades scored his second goal of the season while Garcia was credited with his second assist of the year.
Lance Quini played all 90 minutes in goal for the Pilots allowing only the one goal while saving four. Milosevic played 90 minutes for the visitors allowing three goals and two saves.
The Pilots will hit the road in RRAC for four consecutive games with the first being next Thursday, Oct. 13th, at Tyler, Texas, against Texas College. The next home game for the Pilots will be on Saturday, Oct. 29th, against the Northwood Knights.
