WAXAHACHIE, Tex. - The LSU Shreveport men's soccer team netted four goals in the second half for a 4-1 win over the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lions at the SAGU Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half of play both teams made halftime adjustments and the scoring came. The SAGU Lions got the scoring started for both teams when they scored on a Lee Kounas cross that found the boot of Joel Ramirez for a 1-0 SAGU lead during the 53rd minute.

The Pilots (5-2-1, 1-0-1 RRAC) charged hard and tied the game three minutes later on a corner kick when Ruben Mendoza crossed the ball to find Nate Gurinsky who then found Nelson Zelaya for the goal. Two minutes later the Pilots took the lead for good as Zelaya netted his second goal of the game with assists from Mendoza and Sam Stanford who headed the ball off the post following a Mendoza free-kick. The rebound found the boot of Zelaya to put the Pilots on top 2-1.

Brian McKay scored the next goal for the Pilots during the 63rd minute with assists from Alan Arroyo and Jose Cordova for a 3-1 lead until Arroyo scored the final goal of the game during the 65th minute with an assist from McKay for the 4-1 victory.

The next game for the Pilots will be on Thursday, September 27, at 1 p.m. at The Swamp versus Wiley College.
