Pilots sweep UHV again

VICTORIA, Tex. - The no. 2 LSU Shreveport Pilots (6-2) picked up their sixth consecutive victory sweeping the Houston-Victoria Jaguars (2-5) in today's double header taking game one by a final of 12-2 and game two 8-1. This double header sweep coming after the Pilots won all three games this past weekend against the Jags in Shreveport.

The big inning that lifted the Pilots in the first game of Tuesday's double header was a five-run fourth inning, highlighted by Kyle Pearson's bases clearing triple to give the Pilots a commanding 9-1 advantage. LSUS added a single run in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh as pinch-hitter Taylor Drolette drove in a pair with a double down the left field line.
Caleb Olson (1-1) picked up the win for the Pilots tossing five innings scattering six hits allowing two runs, one earned, two walks and five strikeouts. Reno Dupuis and Jerry Lawrence each worked a scoreless inning out of the pen.
K. J. Semien was the only Pilot with multi hits going 2-3 with a RBI while Kade Billeaudeaux and Drolette each drove in a pair of runs.
LSUS scored 12 runs on 10 hits and stranded six base runners while the Jaguars scored two runs on six hits and left 10 stranded.
The Jags took their first lead of the day scoring a run in the bottom of the first but the lead was short lived as the Pilots put six runs on the board with David Dorton blasting his first homer of the season, a two-run shot over the left field wall to put the Pilots on top 2-1.
Manny Estrada later drove in a pair with a bases loaded single to left and later Zach LeJeune and Mikey Ford each drove in runs with base hits. Estrada was the only Pilot with two hits in the game going 2-3 with four runs batted in.
Trent Cormier (1-0) picked up his first win of his collegiate career tossing four innings allowing five hits, one earned run, two walks and four strikeouts. Riley Spencer, Jonathan Burnett, and Jacob Byrd each work a scoreless inning in relief work.
