Pilots Sweep Tougaloo

February 21, 2009

Shreveport, La. - LSUS freshman Kory Kottenbrook allowed just one hit in his first career start, as the No. 15 Pilots defeated Tougaloo College 23-0 on Saturday afternoon at Pilot Field.

Andrew Brouillette had three hits, including a homerun, and six RBIs to bolster an LSUS offense that scored a season-high 23 runs.  Brouillette also doubled twice in the contest.

Chase Wentz homered for the second straight game, while driving in five runs on the afternoon.

Freshman Stephen Hobbins added to the hit parade, with a pair of doubles and two RBIs in the win.

On the mound, Kottenbrook threw six innings, while striking out three Bulldog batters and walking none.

LSUS (15-2, 11-1) has now won six consecutive games and nine of their last ten, and is currently in sole possession of first place in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference standings.

The Pilots will travel to Fort Worth on Monday for a doubleheader versus the nationally ranked Texas Wesleyan Rams.
