Pilots stomp Steers, 14-3

Shreveport, LA---The LSUS Pilots erupted for nine runs in the top of the fourth inning Tuesday night at Pilot Field against the Texas College Steers to take a commanding 11-0 lead. LSUS would add a single run in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth as they went on to defeat the Steers 14-3.

The Pilots struck first in the bottom of the second inning when starting shortstop Jacob Watkins delivered a single to right center field and advanced to second on a throwing error by right fielder Nolan Williams, which was followed by an errant throw by shortstop Dustin Parker which made its way down the right field line allowing Watkins to advance all the way home giving the Pilots a 1-0 lead.

Pilots designated hitter Scott Talley followed with a single to left field and later scored on a single by starting catcher Brent Porche putting the Pilots ahead 2-0.

After a scoreless third inning, the Pilots erupted for nine runs which was highlighted by Dustin Bissonnette and David McGhee RBI singles which put the game out of reach.

Blake Pinkston was the pitcher of record and collected his first win of the season after scattering two hits and one walk over 2.0 complete innings of work.

McGhee finished 2-3 at the plate and collected a game high three RBI while Bissonnette added a 2-4 performance at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Pilot left fielder Riley Cook also collected two hits which included a triple, two RBI, and two runs scored.

With the win the Pilots improve to 2-2 on the year and will look forward to Thursday night when they will play host to the No. 8 Spalding University at Pilot Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm.
