Pilots split with Texas Wesleyan in last home games of the year

In game one of the double-header versus Texas Wesleyan University, the LSUS Pilots jumped all over the Wesleyan pitching staff, putting up four runs in the first inning, four more in the second, three in the third and four more in the fourth to capture a 15-0, 5 inning mercy rule win over the Rams (25-25).
Pilot’s starter Levi Montoya gets credit for the win with 5 innings of shutout baseball. Montoya (4-1) scattered 4 hits, 3 walks, and collected 4 strikeouts. Chris Frye led the offensive charge for the Pilots with an RBI triple in the first, a 2 RBI double in the third, and capped off the day with a 3 run homerun in the fourth giving him 6 RBI and four runs scored in the game. Leadoff hitter Dustin Bissonnette scored three runs and teammate Chase Cox pitched in with a 2-4 performance and scored two runs.
Game two proved to be the exact opposite of game one as this time it was the Rams who jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning. Pilot’s starter David Alexander (3-3) suffered the loss only pitching 0.1 innings while giving up 5 runs on 6 hits. The Rams went on to win by a final score of 12-3, putting the Pilots at 31-19 on the year.
LSUS travels to Dallas, TX tomorrow to take on Paul Quinn University in double header action which begins at 2:00pm.
