Pilots Set to Tip-off 2007-08 Season

October 30, 2007

Shreveport, La. - The LSUS Pilots will open up the 2007-08 season with an exhibition contest versus McNeese State University on Wednesday night in Lake Charles.

Wednesday's match-up will be the first game for each team this season and the second meeting between the two schools in the last three years.  McNeese defeated the Pilots 93-83 in 2005.

The Pilots enter the 2007-08 season looking to build upon the success they have had over the past four seasons.  The program's four-year resume includes: 101 wins, two GCAC regular season championships, two conference tournament championships, three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances, a number one national ranking in 2006 and three NAIA All-Americans.

"The anticipation for the 2007-08 season has been greater this year than ever," said the four-time LABC Small College Coach of the Year Chad McDowell.  "With the return of preseason all-americans Josh Porter and Jamon Morris, along with our senior leader Travis Cash and a few talented newcomers, we expect to build upon the winning tradition that has been created by all of our former players.  We expect to win championships here at LSUS and that will be our goal once again this year."

The Pilots will face a McNeese team that returns four of the five starters, including thier leading scorer, rebounder and assists leader, off of last year's 15-17 squad that advanced to the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM Wednesday in Burton Coliseum.

LSUS opens its regular season Nov. 2 against Paul Quinn College in the Pepsi Classic at Southwest Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas and will play its first home game on Nov. 12 versus Jarvis Christian College.
