Pilots Remain #4 in Coaches' Poll, Move up to #2 in VSN Poll

January 16, 2008

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the fourth straight poll, Mountain State University (W.V.) is ranked No. 1 in the fourth regular season National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Basketball Division I Top 25 Coaches' Poll, announced today (Jan. 16). The Cougars, who received 328 total votes and nine of the possible 11 first-place votes, started the season No. 5 in the preseason poll (Oct 31).

Four teams in Division I still remain undefeated, with Mountain State and No. 2 Georgetown (Ky.) leading the way with identical 16-0 records. Concordia (Calif.) holds the No. 3 position, winners of nine straight. The other two perfect teams are No. 4 LSUS at 15-0 and No. 5 Lee (Tenn.) at 14-0.

LSUS, who received the other two first-place votes, will face a tough challenge in trying to keep a perfect record as the Pilots take on Spring Hill College and The University of Mobile on the road this week, before returning home to face No. 16 Xavier University on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Although the Pilots remained at the No. 4 slot in this week's NAIA Coaches' Poll, they moved up two spots in the Victory Sports Network Poll.  The Pilots came in at the No. 2 spot in this week's VSN Poll.
