Pilots prepare to take a bite out of the Lions

The LSUS Pilots defeated the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lions 85-64 on November 18th which was the beginning of the Lions current four game tail spin. The Lions are 2-6 overall and have had trouble putting points on the board; not a recipe for success at The Dock against the Pilots who are the 12th highest scoring offense in the NAIA, averaging just under 88-points per game. SAGU is averaging just 61.9-points per game, while allowing 69.0-points. Julio Osorio leads the Lions averaging 17.4-points and 8.1 rebounds. Osorio torched the Pilots for 25-points and 10-rebounds in Waxahachie, TX.

The Pilots have had a week off since last Tuesday’s nail-bitter against the ETBU Tigers which saw the Pilots hold on to an 89-85 victory. Josh Porter is coming of a current GCAC Player of the Week selection which has boosted his scoring average to 17.8-points per game. Blake Whittle continues his steady scoring pace and comes into tonight’s contest as the teams leading scorer, averaging 18.9-points. Freddy Hughes is currently averaging 16.4-points and leads the team with 39-assists.

Tonight’s match-up is one of three remaining home contests before the Christmas break. LSUS will play host to Champions Baptist College December 7th at 7:00pm, and will wrap up 2006 December 15th against Paul Quinn College at 7:00pm.

The Pilots defeated the PQC Tigers their season opener; a game which was tied with 8:00 remaining in the contest before the Pilots went on to win by a final score of 93-77.
