Pilots prepare for GCAC tournament
March 09, 2004
The LSUS Pilots will be leaving Wednesday for New Orleans to play in the GCAC tournament. The Pilots earned the fourth seed after finishing only one game out of first place. As the Pilots had over a week off between the regular season and the conference tournament, they took time to reflect on some of the many accomplishments this year. They were able to get 20 wins in their first season of competition and beat four top 25 teams in the country. They finish the season on a 6 game winning streak and have won 11 out of their last 12 games. They seem to be playing well at the right time of year. Their accomplishments though are still not what they set out to do in October. The Pilots wanted to earn a trip to the National tournament and that goal hasn't changed yet. They realize they must play well and win at least two games in the tournament to have the chance at getting an at large berth. They plan to take all the human elements out of the equation by continuing to play their best basketball and win the conference tournament thus earning the automatic bid. You can support the Pilots by tuning in on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ihigh.com and you can click on the broadcast network icon and find our game listed on the right-hand column. We appreciate the continued support and will do our best to bring back to Shreveport a GCAC men's basketball tournament championship trophy.
