Pilots pound HTU

AUSTIN, Tex. - The no. 21 LSU Shreveport Pilots eased by the Huston-Tillotson Rams on Saturday night at the Branch Gymnasium 97-77 in Red River Athletic Conference play. The Pilots had five scorers reach double figures for their seventh straight victory.

LSUS blazed the nets for 51-percent shooting with Brandon Davis leading the way with 10 field goals for his ninth double-double of the season with 22 points and 16 rebounds while Rodney Milum poured in 19 points off the bench knocking down five three's in 13 attempts.

Rydell Harris sank 16 points while bringing down nine rebounds while Aaron Jones was the only other LSUS starter in double figures with 14 points while Tevin Hall tossed in 10 points. Mark Politte dished out the game's high eight assists while adding six points and eight rebounds.

The Pilots shot an impressive 47-percent in the first half and it only got better as they built on their 11-point lead at the break converting 55-percent in the second half outscoring the home squad by 11 once again.

The Rams (6-19, 5-13 RRAC) shot 38-percent and also lost the battle on the boards to the Pilots 51-39.

Monday night the Pilots will take on the Our Lady of the Lake Saints at 7:30 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas. LSUS is still two games in front of the Saints just two and a half games behind the RRAC regular standings leader SAGU heading into Monday's contest.
