Pilots Move to 2-0 with 23-point Win Over SAGU

Waxahachie, Texas - The LSUS men's basketball team picked up its second win in as many nights, as they defeated the Pepsi Classic tournament host Southwest Assemblies of God University Lions 88-65 on Saturday night.
LSUS began the game with a starting lineup that featured three freshmen and it paid off early for the Pilots. Consecutive three-point baskets by junior Clarke Jackson and freshman Ta'Kevin Huey forced SAGU to take an early timeout after falling behind 6-0.
The Pilots would never look back as they raced out to a 43-25 halftime lead, dominating both ends of the floor in the first half.
In the second half, the Pilots continued to control the game and execute on the offensive end of the court. 13 Pilots logged minutes in the second half and all 13 players scored in the contest.
Freshman Ta'Kevin Huey led the way for the Pilots, scoring 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting, including 5 three's on the evening.
Sophomore Jared Stevenson finished the game with 9 points and 5 assists, and senior J'Quincy Jones added 8 points and 5 rebounds in just 10 minutes of action.
With the win, LSUS moves to 2-0 on the season and will face crosstown rival Centenary College on Tuesday night in the Gold Dome.
Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
