Pilots lead Lee 1-0; 9th inning rain delay

May 10, 2006

LSUS Pilots starter Kevin Jewell squared off against Lee's Jon Kirby in what was undoubtedly the best pitching match-ups I have ever seen. Dustin Bissonnette doubled to lead off the game, stole third, and scored on a fielders choice for the games only run. Kirby allowed just one more hit through the 8th while striking out three.

Jewell cruised through 8, but walked the leadoff batter in the 9th. Jewell responded by striking out Lee's four hole for the first out. The next pitch was a strike, Lee stole second safely, and a monsoon unladed directly over AUM's field. The two teams went back to their respective hotels, and it has been assumed the game will pick up in the 9th tomorrow once the field conditions will allow.
