Pilots Hit Century Mark, Remain Undefeated
January 12, 2008
Shreveport, La. - The LSUS men’s basketball team continued their winning ways and added on to their school-record 15-game winning streak on Saturday, defeating the Dillard men’s team 100-90.
The Pilots jumped out to a quick 20-8 lead in the first seven minutes of the game, and extended their lead out to as many as 18 points after back-to-back three-point baskets by point guard Jared Stevenson.
The Pilots led by a score of 50-40 at the break and Dillard would never get any closer. An old-fashioned three-point play by senior Travis Cash with just 13 seconds remaining helped the Pilots hit the century mark for the third time this season.
LSUS had four starters record double-digits in the scoring column, with Josh Porter finishing with a team-high 23 points. Point guard Jared Stevenson and Travis Cash each tallied 19 points in the contest, while Jamon Morris ended with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Junior Chris Gatlin provided the Pilots with a much needed spark from off the bench on Saturday with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
LSUS shot 53% for the game, however, they struggled from the free-throw line going 25-for-43 for the contest. The Pilots overcame their free-throw woes by shooting over 40% from the three-point line, connecting on 9-of-21 attempts.
LSUS (15-0, 4-0) will be back in action next week with two games versus Spring Hill and Mobile in Mobile, Alabama.
